ForagePilot ("we", "us", or "our") is committed to protecting the privacy of our users. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use the ForagePilot application ("the App").
1. Information We Collect
We collect only what is necessary to provide the service:
- Account information: Your email address and password (stored securely via Firebase Authentication).
- Farm data: Feed plans, livestock records, ration data, cattle finishing projections, and client profiles that you enter into the App.
- Payment information: Subscription payments are processed by PayFast. We receive only a confirmation of payment status — no card or banking details are ever stored by ForagePilot.
- Usage data: We log uncaught application errors (including your user ID, error message, and timestamp) to help us fix bugs. No personal farm data is included in error logs.
2. How We Use Your Information
- To provide and operate the ForagePilot service.
- To manage your subscription and payment status.
- To diagnose and fix technical errors in the application.
- To communicate important service updates (via email, infrequently).
We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information or farm data with third parties for marketing purposes.
3. Data Storage and Security
Your data is stored in Google Firebase (Firestore), hosted in Google's secure cloud infrastructure. Access to your data is protected by:
- Firebase Authentication — only you can access your account.
- Firestore Security Rules — server-side rules prevent any other user from accessing your data.
- HTTPS encryption for all data in transit.
4. POPIA Compliance (South Africa)
ForagePilot complies with the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA), Act 4 of 2013. As the responsible party:
- We collect personal information only with your knowledge and for a specific purpose.
- You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal information at any time by emailing privacy@foragepilot.com.
- We will respond to such requests within 30 days.
5. Data Retention
Your data is retained for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, your data will be permanently removed within 30 days. Error logs are automatically purged after 90 days.
6. Third-Party Services
The App uses the following third-party services:
- Google Firebase — authentication and data storage (Firebase Privacy)
- PayFast — payment processing (PayFast Privacy Policy)
- Cloudflare CDN — delivery of third-party libraries (Chart.js)
7. Cookies
The App uses Firebase Authentication which sets a session cookie to keep you logged in. No advertising or tracking cookies are used.
8. Children's Privacy
ForagePilot is intended for use by adults (18 years and older). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 18.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any significant changes via email or an in-app notice. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
